Join Kathleen Berry for an entertaining evening hearing ghost stories, enjoying s’mores and meeting the author on Friday, Aug. 18 from 6 to 7 p.m. at A to Zen, 1803 N. Carson St., in Carson City, Nevada.

Kathleen’s topic—”True Ghost Stories and What They Show Us About the Afterlife”—will relate paranormal tales from Virginia City, Reno, Fort Churchill and Goldfield. She’ll discuss misconceptions about ghosts, why spirits visit, how they make themselves known, why we shouldn’t fear spirits and her thoughts about death being a transition, not an end.

After her talk, visit with Kathleen and have your copy of “A Reluctant Spirit: A True Tale of God, Ghosts and a Skeptical Christian” signed.

Kathleen’s presentation is part of the store’s Campouts and Ghost Stories Author Event. Private camping authors Kimberly and Patrick Wilkes will talk about camping in the Eastern Sierra and Death Valley at 5:30 p.m.

A community college publicist, Kathleen was thrown into the world of ghost hunters, psychics and mediums after the institution she works for started offering non-credit supernatural programming. In 2008, she became manager of the Nevada Ghost and Paranormal Series. She’s been interviewed by George Noory on “Coast to Coast A.M.,” has given talks about her book and has taught writing, spirituality and paranormal courses. Her memoir, “A Reluctant Spirit” garnered praise from Kirkus Review, calling it “intriguing” and “a gripping account.” Since 2012, Berry has penned a blog relating to spiritual and paranormal topics. She was named Northern Nevada’s Best Female Writer of 2014 by Reno News and Review.
